Password protect directories

Password Protect Directories button You can set password to protect directories in your website hosting account, browsers will need to enter a correct password in order to access them. This is useful for offering members only material.

To set a password for a directory:

  1. Click Password protect directories button on the Cpanel hosting account control panel.

  2. Navigate to the directory that you want to set a password. Select a desired folder name, or simply open up a folder by clicking on the folder icon.

  3. Check the tick box beside the Lock icon icon.

  4. Enter the title name to appear in the password request pop up window in the Protected Resource Name field. This is optional but can serve as informational purposes.

  5. Click Save button to enable the password protected directory. You must now add at least one user to the authorized user list in order to enable restricted access to the directory.
